About Us

From their annual A Night in Fantasia concerts, to their much more intimate appearance at the 2007 Otakon anime convention, those who have been lucky enough to see the Australian-based Eminence Symphony Orchestra in action know that the group’s passion is matched only by its talent.

Founded in 2003 by Artistic Director, Producer and Violinist Hiroaki Yura, Eminence has rapidly earned a place both in the professional music world, and in the hearts of gamers world-wide. The goal of Eminence is to “challenge ideas of what orchestral music is all about” and breathe new life into a genre of music that tends to go overlooked in this modern era.

It’s through exciting new arrangements of the classic tunes from 8-bit-era platformers all the way through to stunningly beautiful renditions of the themes from popular films and anime (and, of course, games) that Emienence are achieving this goal – and their hard work isn’t going unnoticed.

Although the orchestra is barely five years old, it has already worked with some of the biggest composers in the films and games industry – Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy series), John Williams (Star Wars, Harry Potter), Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross), Youmi Kimura (Spirited Away) and Hitoshi Sakimoto (Vagrant Story, Romeo x Juliet, Final Fantasy XII) just to name a few. Many of the musicians have also played for various heads of state, from Queen Elizabeth II and President Bill Clinton to Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

The Eminence Online Store will sell a range of Eminence merchandise.
